As the owner and sole inspector at Inspection Connection LC, Miles has completed over 3,000 certified home inspections over the last 15 years.

While living in Las Cruces, New Mexico, Miles trained with the Sun Tech Inspection School in Tucson, Arizona in 2006, Miles quickly established Inspection Connection as one of southern NM’s go to home inspection providers. At the outset, Miles understood the value of membership and certification with the American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI). In 2008 Miles earned the ASHI Certified Inspector (ACI) designation – the highest level of ASHI membership.  ACI's are fully accredited by the National Commission of Certifying Agencies (NCCA) and are recognized as having the highest standards in the home inspection profession.

Holding current state home inspection licenses in New Mexico, Texas and Arizona - Miles has in-depth knowledge in all areas and types of home construction and the systems that make a house work. 

When the state of New Mexico recently passed legislation requiring licensing for home inspectors, Miles was tagged by the governor’s office to serve on the state’s Home Inspector Licensing Board.   Chairing the Rules Committee, Miles and a select handful of the state’s leading inspectors developed and implemented the standards of practice and code of ethics that are now in place as the guidelines for all licensed New Mexico home inspectors.

The ASHI organization has been key in Miles’ successful home inspection business, and he has worked in the state to help other inspectors gain the knowledge needed to provide high quality inspection services.  As the president of the NM ASHI chapter from 2019 – 2021, Miles helped coordinate regular continuing education training from subject matter experts on topics ranging from spray foam roof coverings to high efficiency boiler systems.

Miles added Home Energy Rating (HER) to Inspection Connection LC’s service offerings in 2007.  After completing training with the Kansas Building Science Institute, Miles was certified as a Residential Energy Services Network (RESNET) HERs Rater.  For each Home Energy Rating completed, Miles used the building plans and the project specification information to complete a computerized projection of the planned home’s energy use.  Now having completed more than 1,000 Home Energy Ratings for new home builders, Miles can recognize and advise on best practices that insure home comfort and lower energy costs.

Born and raised in north central Texas, Miles moved to New Mexico in the early 80’s to complete high school and help out at a small family-owned ranch outside of Roswell.  After graduating from New Mexico State University with a MS in Economics and Ag Business in 1989, Miles married life partner Anna Cook and began his first career in food processing with Dairy Farmers of America in El Paso, TX.  Over his 17 years with DFA, Miles served as Production Supervisor, Quality Assurance Manager and then General Manager of the large butter and powdered milk manufacturing facility.

After 50 plus years in the horse world, Miles is now a reformed roper who still appreciates the cowboy lifestyle and ethic. Now trails are enjoyed mostly from astride a mountain bike.  Miles and Anna also enjoy exploring new areas, hiking, fishing and golf with rules loosely applied.
